Description

Acrylic still life painting of an orange and a green bell pepper on a scrap of canvas. Presented in this orientation, the orange appears to the left of the bell pepper; the bell pepper leans a little to the right at a slightly impossible angle--whatever it is resting against is not pictured. Indeed, what the items are sitting on is not pictured, either; the background remains unseen save for an indigo wash behind the orange which morphs into a brown between the orange and pepper, and changes into a deep burgundy-brown outlining the background area around the top left and top of the bell pepper. (Note: It is possible the painting was meant to be orientated the other way such that the bell pepper would be on the left and the orange on the right; there's no artist's signature or other clue to determine the intended orientation of this piece.) The remainder of the canvas is unpainted. The bell pepper has a darker green stem than the rest of the vegetable, and the orange has tinges of green on the left side and along the outline. In some places, the paint has bled (presumably) outside of the intended borders of the objects. The canvas itself is fraying very slightly in some places along the edges and is somewhat irregular in shape, with the bottom left-hand corner missing. A very slight smudge of orange paint is visible on the left underside of the orange.
