Description
Black-and-white photograph depicting a tree-lined walkway on the central campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, with Angell Hall visible at left. Tall trees with broad, arching canopies cast dappled shadows across a paved sidewalk and adjacent lawn. The neoclassical façade of Angell Hall, designed by Albert Kahn of Detroit and completed in 1924, is partially visible at left, featuring eight monumental Doric columns surmounting a wide esplanade of steps, with bicycles parked along its base. A lamppost, a street sign, and scattered pedestrians and cyclists appear along the path in the middle distance, evoking everyday campus life. The receding line of trees creates a strong sense of depth and atmosphere characteristic of the University of Michigan's central campus.
