This is a rough, five inch square earthenware tile that was formed from clay and stamped with a block impression of the State of Michigan. The Lower Peninsula of Michigan is stamped with the word "Michigan" and "Manistee." The stamp of "Michigan" is blurry and somewhat illegible.

The Great Lakes are depressions in the tile and are colored a deep blue, the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan are a raised bluish-green, and outlying areas are a raised brown.
