Title

A Tale of Bete Grise Wetlands

Subject

Mural painting and decoration, American--Michigan--Detroit--21st Century.
Legends--Michigan--Bete Gris.

Description

Painting of a wolverine over swirls of smoke from a fire. Blueberries are scattered beneath the wolverine. Beneath the swirls is a black forest scene. The title "A Tale Bete Grise Wetlands" is written on the bottom of the piece. Artist comments about the painting indicate that Bete Gris is a local legend from the Keweenaw Peninsula of a grey beast that is reminiscent of smoke after the burning of blueberry bushes. Signed A. S. G. in lower right corner of image. Dated 6/'21 in lower left corner of image.
