Description

This mural, decorating the facade of a Mexican ice cream shop called La Michoacana in southwest Detroit, is one in a series by the artist depicting Mexican culture. The mural depicts the bust of a smiling Spanish woman with thick dark hair worn in two braids that fall on her chest. She wears a large brimmed light pink hat with a floral motif decorating its underside. A bunch of deep pink flowers are tucked behind her right ear. Opposite the flowers, a deep pink ribbon (?) frames her face. Several pieces of jewelry are depicted. These consist of hoop earrings and two beaded necklaces (one in red and the other in green). The woman is surrounded by various forms of ice cream and other sweet treats, such as ice cream cones, paletas (Mexican popsicles), and fruit sorbets. The mural includes the words "Ice Cream" and "La Michoacana" in script. It is signed in the lower left corner "CORPUS ART INC."
