Title

The People's Dragon

Subject

Automobile industry workers
Dragons in art
Robots

Description

Depicts industrial workers working on a robotic dragon that is breathing fire and shooting laser beams from it's eyes. The Chinese characters roughly translate to "The dragon's name is Detroit, it will rise, and together we will make it powerful!" It is intended to be an homage to Diego Rivera's "Detroit Industry Mural" located in the Detroit Institute of Arts museum. The "alla prima" technique was used to mix layers of paint that are often still wet to create this mixed media mural that uses both brushwork and spray paint.
